Cheech & Chong

The DIZYGOTIC Project Alpha celebrates both "420" International Cannabis Day and "710" National Dab Day ("OIL" upside down) with the boundary-breaking cannabis counterculture legacy of Cheech & Chong. 

• "A Journey from 420 to 710": DIZYGOTIC initially came up with the concept on April 20th, 2022 "420". The team finished developing the prototype and showcased the shoes to Cheech & Chong on July 10th, 2022 "710" in Los Angeles, California. This campaign pays tribute to what Cheech & Chong accomplished for the cannabis counterculture for the past few decades. 

• The release features a mismatched yellow and blue design with red suspenders and denim which indicates the iconic outfits Cheech & Chong dressed in the movies. 

• The velvet shoe lining reflects the symbolic colorful car dashboard in the movies.

• Apart from the Cheech & Chong embroideries, the heel was made of paisley fabric and corduroy to showcase Tommy Chong's headband and Cheech Marin's beanie.

• Printed across the insoles, Cheech & Chong's famous lowrider and big green van elements such as car decals and license plates demonstrate their hippie and free-love spirit.

• The "quarter-pounder joint" paper inserts** are inspired by one of the funniest scenes in cannabis comedies.

Project Alpha Cheech & Chong features an all-premium top-grain pigskin suede upper, with a perforated suede toe box and Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong embroideries reflecting their classic movie characters. The pair features a mismatched color design and an asymmetrical design on the lateral and medial sides. The insoles also boast memory foam lining and their famous movie elements on both insoles. Strobel boards above the midsoles come with mismatched logo prints. Mismatched color Vibram megagrip outsoles provide additional stability and durability. Each pair is handmade in Nectar Lab instead of an assembly line.​
